But... who even are we?
Why should you trust me? We're a hidden internet entity. They're notorious for being untrustworthy. We're not a scam. A real scam would never mention the word. It's against the scammer's guide.
The 'horror' in pure statistics
The odds are so depressing I nearly cried as I typed them out. I am now furious and melancholic. Let's make all these numbers far less weep-inducing.

The values we always stick too
This is the fancy corporate section that is needed to express our core beliefs. Enjoy them. Or, move on through to the more exciting stuff...
Ambitious
Can we really change an industry with a little website very few people will actually see? Maybe not. But it's far better to try and fail than to never try at all. Pretty sure that's a Shakespeare quote.
Encouraging
When it comes to interaction between writers, readers and the general public, constructive comments and guidance is paramount. We want people to be excited to write, not to be put off by negativity.
Fun
Name something that isn't fun. Ok, fine, don't, I will instead. Goose attacks, falling in love with a broken tree, forgetting your scarf two days into your job as an igloo inspector. Now, our goal is to defy all of those and be the opposite. Join us.
Original
We want work that is yours and we want voices that are yours. If it's your idea it has a home here. Cinema can be too much of the same, we need to break free of that and to add more unique tales to this world.
We want... no, NEED your screenplays. Join our journey!
Keep up to date on all our progress before we go live! There will be no spam, but there will be bang-average copyrighting. You've been warned.
“Nobody likes change” - except me... and hopefully *you*!
We're trying to revolutionise the wheel. But, instead of a wheel, it's a script. That is the most coherent way I can explain it.
No more 'notes'
You need around 10-12 full-time jobs and or a mega-yacht to pay for script feedback. Make improvements with reviews, not currency.
Calling Mr Manager
Get attention from agents and producers through organic growth. If the people like it, they'll be forced to sit up and listen.
We’re the new middle 'humans'...
It’s either, you get nothing for your screenplay or you have to try and sell it for 6+ figures. We are the in-between. The helpful bridge.
Our roadmap for improvements
More features = complete shopping experience
Recommended screenplays. Related work. Shop newsletters. If you've seen it on a normal online store, we'll try to implement it.
Great rewards for your valued reading
Get paid to read. Yes, you heard that right, we'd like to use affiliate schemes and monetary incentives to make reading a valuable career.
Jobs, resources and everything in between
We want Specc to be the go-to place for all screenwriters. We want a job board, a catalogue of free resources and anything else that could help.
We use the best software around the web
Putting your faith and your work in the hands of strangers is always difficult, but we only use the most trusted tools available. So, you work is safe with us.
General Questions
Do not get this confused with General Gareth Fak, a wonderful and well-decorated soldier in his time.
If you upload a script, you will need to provide your bank details so you can be paid. However, we use Stripe, the most trusted online payment system and we (specc) never know or have access to your banking details. Stripe's onboarding process goes into detail about how it works. Find out more here.
Yessss, please do! But, remember, review how you yourself would like to be reviewed. Be helpful and be fair. Personal criticism and un-constructive feedback do nothing for the writer and doesn't make you look cool. We all want better scripts, be a part of that solution.
I wish it were that simple. However, the tech genius here at Specc does not know how to actually get that working without code. So, therefore, we cannot yet... however, if we're bought by a big multi-media mega-machine, we'll start looking at that!
THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION. Follow this link here, we have a whole page dedicated to how to upload your screenplay today!
This is an awful problem. Jokes, this is definitely not an issue at all. We recommend looking around on the World Wide Web to get an idea of how they work before buying your first script. Equally, you can use the first 10% of each script to see how they're structured and formatted. The more you read, the easier it becomes.
Still have questions?
Who you gonna call? It's actually just us, there's no one else around to help in any way...
